How to give nuances in your match labels
In the advice, we explain which products best match the user’s needs. We do this using match labels. Match labels:
- Resonate with the answers the user has provided
- Make it clear why a product is being recommended
- Ensure that users can immediately see how well the product fits their needs
This creates transparency, trust, and confidence in the decision-making process.
Working with nuance in suitability
Not every product is an equally good fit. That’s why you can use nuances in your advice. For example, when a product aligns well with a given answer but is not a perfect match within your assortment, as shown in the image below.
When to use nuances in your match labels?
It meets the most important requirements
There is one minor deviation or compromise
It is a good fit, but not the very best option within the selection
How to use nuances in your match labels
1. Navigate to Settings → Configure.
2. Enable the Custom Match Text switch.
- This will reveal the option Enable Weight-Based Custom Match Text.
3. Enable the switch for "weight-based custom match text"
Assigning Weights to Rules in Data Matching
Once the weight-based custom match text option is enabled, you can assign weights to individual rules within your data matching rulesets. The assigned weight determines which match label is displayed when a data item meets the criteria of a specific rule. For example, a rule with weight: 0.5 might trigger a “Low Match” label, while weight: 2 could trigger a “High Match” label. This allows for more granular control over the labels shown based on match importance.
- Navigate to Matching → Data Matching.
- Create a new rule – Add a new rule within the ruleset you want to configure.
- Assign a weight – Set the desired weight for the rule to control which match label will be displayed when this rule is met.
- Create a second ruleset for a different weight – Add a new ruleset and assign it a different weight to display an alternative match label when its criteria are met.
In the example above, you can see three rules, each assigned a different weight. The rule with weight 2 represents the highest match, weight 1 indicates a normal or average match, and weight 0.5 reflects a partial match that is relevant but not fully aligned.
Providing Custom Text for Match Labels
To define the text that should appear for each match label, go to Configure → Edit Answer. Under the Match Text section, you will see input fields for each available weight. Enter the desired label text for every weight to control what users will see based on the match level.
When viewing the preview, you can see how the different match labels are displayed based on their assigned weights, as shown in the example below.
