How to translate your selling guide into multiple languages
With the multi-language feature you can configure multiple languages using a single selling guide.
What’s really great is that you only have to configure your flow, mapping, matching, settings and styling once (in your default selling guide), without duplicating and updating your selling guide for each language.
Benefits
The benefits of using the multi-language feature versus adding a selling guide for each language:
- You only have to configure your flow, mapping, matching, settings and styling once.
- Changes you make in your flow, mapping, matching, settings or styling don't have to be repeated for each language.
- You can auto-translate your entire flow within seconds.
- You can publish the changes for all your languages at once.
1. Adding languages and translations
You can find the "Translations" feature under "Settings -> Translations".
Adding languages
To add a language, click the "Edit languages" button in the top-right. A pop-up will appear where you can add or remove languages.
Custom languages
Is the language you need not available in the languages dropdown? Simply type the language code and if it does not exist, you can create it and add it.
Translating your flow
Once you've added all your languages, click "Done". After that you can simply select the rows you want to translate and click the "Auto-translate selected" button.
Tip: To select all rows, click the checkbox in the header.
Translating variables
When you use variables, a dropdown will appear in the top left where you can switch between "Text" and "Variables". To translate your variables, simply select "Variables" in the dropdown.
2. Adding specific language product feeds
Once you've added your languages, you will find a new button "Add language specific feed" in the bottom of the screen under "Feed -> Source".
Using this button, you can add a specific product feed for each language without the need to remap and match everything for each language.
Please make sure you map the ID property under "Mapping -> ID" and that the products in the "language" feeds have the same id's as products in your default feed. Also ensure that the feed base properties (feed column names) are consistent across all feeds. The values of these base properties will naturally vary, as they are provided in different languages.
How the matching works
When you have translated your flow into your desired language, you can add a specific feed for that language.
When using multiple language feeds, the default feed remains the reference for all matching and filtering logic.
This means that:
- All matching rules are applied based on the default feed.
- When a different language feed is used (for example a German feed), Qonfi looks for products with the same product ID in that feed.
- If a matching product ID is found, the product from the language-specific feed will be displayed in the advice.
Matching is based on the default feed
When using multiple language feeds, the default feed is always used as the reference for matching rules.
This means that the system first determines the recommended products based on the default feed. It will then look for products with the same product ID in the selected language feed.
If the product does not exist in the language-specific feed, it cannot be shown in the advice. This can result in no product being displayed, even though the matching rule returned a result in the default feed.
Solution when language feeds contains a lot of different products
If your language feeds contain a different assortment of products, we recommend the following workflow:
- Translate your flow to the desired language using the translation feature.
- Duplicate the translated flow.
- Adjust the matching rules manually so they match the products available in that language-specific feed.
This ensures that the recommended products always exist in the corresponding language feed.
3. Previewing your languages
You can preview your wizard for each language you've added using the "language" dropdown in the top-right under "Preview & Styling -> Preview".
4. Publishing your multi-language selling guide
Once you’ve translated everything, it’s time to publish your changes. For each additional language you’ve added you will now also see an additional HTML element when you publish your selling guide. Implement the correct HTML element for each language on your website.
