About LedLoket
LedLoket has been active since 2016 as a specialist in LED lighting and helps both private and business customers across Europe. The assortment includes everything from individual light sources and fixtures to complete rail lighting systems for homes, shops, offices and other spaces.
Many customers don't just come to LedLoket to buy a lamp, but mainly to figure out what works best for their situation. Especially with lighting, atmosphere, application, light color and combinations play a major role. This often means it's not about one product, but about a complete solution that fits well together.
With that combination of a broad assortment and specialized knowledge, LedLoket has grown over the years into a well-known player in the online lighting market.
Primary marketing goal
Guide visitors toward the right lighting (sets), for more conversions and fewer customer inquiries.
"With Qonfi, visitors can independently choose and assemble the right products. This leads to higher revenue and less manual contact." - Timo Wiefferink, owner LedLoket
Lots of choice, but little direction
The challenge
LedLoket has a broad assortment with diverse lighting solutions. For visitors, this offers plenty of choice, but online, this amount of products, versions and technical specifications also creates complexity.
Especially within categories like rail lighting and spots, doubt quickly arises. Visitors not only have to determine which product fits, but also which combinations are needed and how many parts they need to order. Think of rails, spots, connectors and accessories that must fit together technically, where the required quantity differs per customer.
This led LedLoket to face two important challenges:
- How can we better help visitors find the right product(s)?
- How can we reduce manual customer contact?
Advice like in the store, but online
The solution
Together with Qonfi, LedLoket implemented guided selling: a way to guide visitors online step by step toward the right lighting. Within LedLoket, guided selling is used in two ways
- Help visitors find the right lamp.
- Let visitors assemble their own product package and add it directly to the shopping cart.
1. Guiding visitors to find the right lamp
Suppose you arrive as a visitor on a category page with rail spots. You see different products side by side: black spots, white spots, pendant fixtures, linear fixtures, different prices and different specifications. In itself, all that information is relevant, but it doesn't directly help you determine what you need.
Between the products, you therefore see a clear invitation: "Need help? Use our guided selling tool."
The first question is deliberately low-threshold and visual: "What type of lighting are you looking for your rails?" You choose, for example, between a spot fixture, pendant fixture or linear fixture. Instead of showing technical specifications, the guided selling tool translates the differences directly into applications that are recognizable to the website visitor.
From there, the advice becomes increasingly refined. The guided selling tool asks, for example:
- what color the rail spot should be
- whether an accent color is desired, such as gold or silver
- what type of light source works best
- what appearance or application is important
Each step narrows the assortment further. At the same time, you get visual support, clear explanations and recognizable choices, making technical complexity a logical selection process.
After a few questions, you don't see a long list of products, but a selection that matches what you entered.
In this example, you end up with the LED 1-phase Rail Spot with GU10 fitting | Black with Silver. This choice aligns with the preferences you indicated earlier in the guided selling tool.
The advice aligns with your preferences, such as color, fixture type and light source. With the green checks, you can directly see why the product matches your choices.
2. Let visitors assemble their own product package and add it directly to their shopping cart
Suppose you're looking for rail lighting for your living room, shop or office. You have a rough idea of what you like, but as soon as you start searching you quickly realize that a rail system consists of much more than just a few spots.
You need rails, connectors, spots, power points and sometimes additional accessories like trim rings or outlets. Additionally, all components must fit together technically and the quantities must be correct. A wrong connector or missing part can cause the entire system to malfunction.
This creates a complex customer journey. Visitors must figure out themselves:
- which components they need
- how the setup should be assembled
- and how many products need to be ordered
In practice, this often leads to doubt, lots of customer contact and incorrect orders or returns.
The solution
Assemble your own rail lighting
That's why LedLoket developed a configurator together with Qonfi that allows visitors to step by step assemble their own rail system.
On the website, you see a clear invitation as a visitor: "Need help? Assemble your own 1-phase rail system here."
First, it looks at how the rail system should be placed in the room. You choose, for example, a straight layout or an L-shape. This happens visually, so you immediately recognize which shape fits best with your space.
Next, you enter the desired length per side. Suppose side A should be three meters and side B eight meters, then the configurator automatically processes that information. You don't have to calculate how many rails you need or which components need to be combined to make that setup technically correct.
It automatically calculates:
- which rails are needed
- which connectors go with them
- how many components need to be ordered
- and how everything is technically correctly combined
Add accessories and personal preferences
Then you can add additional options. Think of rail spots, trim rings, outlets or other accessories. The configurator immediately shows which components are compatible with the selected configuration.
This means as a visitor you don't have to figure out yourself:
- which accessories do or don't fit
- which components are compatible
- or what you might still be missing for a complete installation
At the same time, there's room for cross-selling and personalization. A visitor who, for example, adds extra outlets or rail spots, immediately sees relevant options that fit within the chosen system.
Automatically recommended correct products and quantities
At the end of the flow, a complete configuration is automatically created. You not only get an overview of the right products, but also the correct quantities and required connectors. Everything is brought together directly in one complete system that can be added to the shopping cart with one click.
