Bulk matching and manual matching
You can combine bulk matching and manual matching in order to match feed products to the answers of your flow. It is also possible to use both options separately. We discuss both options below.
1. How to bulk match feed products to answers
1. Go to "Matching" in the left navigation.
2. Go to the "Data matching" tab.
3. Select the question you want to edit on the left.
4. Open the answer you want to match feed products to.
5. Add rules by clicking the "Add" button and selection "Add rule".
6. You can now use your feed attributes to match your products to your answers in bulk.
When to match products manually?
In general, we recommend you to use bulk matching as a default. It’s often faster and more convenient. However, in some cases it’s recommended to (additionally) match products manually. For example:
1. You only have a few products to match: match products manually if you only have a few products to match in your flow.
2. Missing specific attributes to match: When you miss specific feed attributes in your feed to match all of your products to the answers of a specific question. You can match products manually for that specific question.
3 . Inconsistent feed values: if some of the products in your feed miss certain feed values. In this case, you could bulk match the products which contain the correct feed values and manually add the products where the feed value is missing.
2. How to manually match feed products to answers
Please note: For the manual matching button to show up, please make sure you have an ID mapped under "Feed -> Mapping".
1. Go to "Matching" in the left navigation.
2. Go to the "Data matching" tab.
3. Select the question you want to edit on the left.
4. Click on 'match products manually' in the bottom right.
A pop-up will appear where you will see all of your products (tab 'all products' is selected by default at the top right).
Here you can manually determine for each product whether the product is suitable for the shown answer(s). For each product, you can simply select a specific answer to match the product to that answer. It's of course also possible to match a product to multiple answers.
How to check which products need to be matched?
To quickly see which products still need to be matched, you can click on the tab 'unmatched products' in the top right. In the example below, you see that there are still 4 products that need to be matched.
For each product, you can simply select a specific answer to match the product to an answer.
If you are not sure whether a product should match an answer, you can click on the button ‘view product’. A tab opens where you can view the product on the product detail page on your site. This allows you to quickly verify which answer(s) the product should match to.
Definition of the 'unmatched products' tab
The products shown in the 'unmatched tab' are products that are match in previous answers leading to the specific question you currently want to match. In most cases it makes sense to match all of the products in this tab.
3. Combining bulk match and manual matching in an answer
We recommend you to use bulk match as a default. However, it may happen that not all products in your feed contain the correct feed values. In that case, these products cannot be matched in bulk (since they mis the correct feed value to match on).
With manual matching you can easily add these products to your answer.
Example
In the example below we have bulk matched the products from our feed using match rules. 19 products have been bulk matched to the answer 'adult' and 7 products have been bulk matched to the answer 'child'. Thus, in total 26 products have been matched (in bulk) as is summarized in the bottom left.
However, we see that we now only have matched 26 unique products to this question, compared to the 30 unique products that are available to match from our feed. Meaning that there are 4 products that are not yet matched to this question, because they did not matched to specific match rules. We can easily add these 4 products manually by clicking on 'match products manually' --> 'unmatched tab'.
Once the unmatched products are matched manually in the example above, you will see that all products have been matched ('matching 30/30 total' in the bottom left). You can also review which products have been bulk matched and which have been manually matched per answer by clicking on 'view items' at a specific answer.
